"Tunnel Vision" Photo by Brian Yen
I often visit the National Geographic website for news and inspiration. I found this photo fitting for this class since we are studying technology. I personally have a love/hate relationship with the forever advancing progress being made. In regards particurlarly to my smart phone, I do appreciate the quick information it provides through various applications. For example, I never need to ask directions anymore because I can use google maps and have a pleasantly voice take me through each step to get to my destination. Yet, at the same time what about pulling over and asking for directions and having some human contact, or even getting lost and having a little adventure. Or as this girl is shown, crowded shoulder to shoulder in a train with other people but she chooses to check out and "connect" to her phone.
The photographer, Brian Yen submitted this photo for the National Geographic Photo of the Day contest, "Our existence is no longer stuck to the physical here—we're free to run away, and run we will."
